The Couch

After visiting friends and seeing Zach climb all over their child's couch, we decided to pick one up for Zach. Just like that couch, Zach can frequently be found climbing over the back and playing with the pull out cushion.

The couch has become part of our typical morning routine. We use it to put on his shoes. Also, if Zach gets up before Melissa and I are done getting ready, we can usually sit him down for couple minutes and he'll watch TV or play by himself a little.

What show could put that smile on Zach's face?

Sesame Street, of course.

Pumpkin Pickin'

So we made it out pumpkin picking last Saturday. We went to Merrymead Farm which is only a few miles away. As usual, Zach enjoyed everything - the pumpkins, the farm animals, and the hayride. He especially liked the cows.

Notice in most of the pictures Zach has a tiny pumpkin. We figured we'd get one he could hold and then we couldn't get it away from him. He loved that little pumpkin. Unfortunately, a few nights later, Izzy ruined it with bite marks.

More Pictures

I guess you can see his couch (more on that in a future post) and an activity table we got for him, but really there is no point to this post other than to share more pictures of Zach.

Valley Forge

Zach was laid up with Adenovirus for a week in September during that stretch of really nice weather. I was home with him for the day. His fever broke in the afternoon, so we decided to make a little trip to Valley Forge.

Conveniently for us, it's only a few miles away. Because Valley Forge is a national park, it would literally take an act of congress to allow hunting on the land. As a result, it's over populated with deer to the point where you are pretty much guaranteed to see some if you just drive through the park.

Like every other furry animal, Zach loved the deer. He smiled and pointed and jumped around in the stroller despite being under the weather. As you can see, we got surprisingly close to a doe and fawn. There were also 7 or 8 grazing under a patch of trees just off the path.

Walkin' Tall

Zach continues to progress closer and closer to walking on his own. He recently started walking behind push toys. We practiced with him a few times and he always struggled. So we laid off it for probably a week. Then, like with the sippy cup and crawling before it, he suddenly got it. And not just a little, he skipped the part in between struggling walking the toy across the entire length of the house.

Pictures don't do it justice, so enjoy the video. Notice he even recovers from a misstep towards the end.

We're expecting to see first steps any day now. Zach has been flirting with letting go as he walks along the furniture. Hopefully, I'm not jinxing it with this mention.

Growing Up Fast

I took these the other morning looking to get a good picture showing off Zach's cool new shoes. Instead I got picture showing how big a kid he is. He's not even 11 months old and could easily pass for 18 months or more.

Anyone wanting to see Zach as a baby should hurry. He'll be a toddler before we know it. Don't worry. For the moment, Zach's still a baby, just a large one.

Last Month

In the past month, Zach..

.. spent a lot of time playing in the living room.

.. continued playing with his food.

.. got all ready for game day.

* This also doubles as his ten month picture.

.. practiced standing and walking along furniture.

.. left a lot of hand prints on the sliding glass doors.

.. started wearing hats again.

.. got a new car to ride on and push around the house.

.. continued to harass the cat.

.. figured out how to work a sippy cup.

.. scored a sweet playset.

Like I said, it was a busy month. I was pleasantly surprised we took this many pictures.

Zach is back

September was hectic for us. Zach was sick twice, including a 5 day fever, and Melissa and I were generally busy with work.

I found these pictures that I never posted. They show Zach in the early stages of mobility. He still isn't walking on his own yet, but he is a pro at standing next to furniture. He's also getting better everyday at walking.

Over the past month, more than few people asked when I'd be posting new pictures. Both Melissa and I are greatly appreciative of such sentiments. Thank you for your interest in our son.
