Bottle Tricks

There is no more guessing whether or not Zach is hungry. If he sees a bottle, he dives for it, reaching with both hands while his mouth is wide open.

He's also started holding the bottle himself. You have to help him keep the bottle angled right, but he does most of the holding.

Eat Your Veggies

For the last two weeks, Zach has been getting sweet potatoes and squash with his dinner. As expected, sometimes he gets on him than in him, but so far so good.

Also, the antibiotic round is over for ear infection #3. Hopefully, the Augmetin did what the Amoxicillian couldn't. On with the pictures.

Happy Mothers Day

Zach is all about reaching out these days. Depending on who you talk to he can either be

a) giving a hug (Mom)

or

b) reaching for a handful of hair (Dad).

Since it's Mother's Day, we'll take Mom's side. Without further ado, here's Zach giving his grandmother a big hug.

p.s. Sorry Daphne, the picture is too good.

Eatin' Solids

Zach is up to a big bowl of cereal twice a day. Although, he isn't consistently interested. Some days you can't get it in his mouth fast enough, others he's done after a few spoonfuls.

Notice his new fishing hats in the second picture.

The Future's So Bright

When we walk Zach around the neighborhood, the sun is always in Zach's eyes for part of the loop. Melissa got him sunglasses to ease the glare. He's surprisingly comfortable with them on. Plus, he looks seriously cool.

Finger Painting

The results of a little art project Zach did at daycare. Look he even signed it.

A month behind

I finally had a chance to go through pictures. Every month we take a picture of Zach in roughly the same position in the same chair. The pictures below are from his five month photo shoot. He'll be 6 months old in a week, so I'm just under a month behind.

Overlooked Transition

Anyone wishing to see Zach as an infant should hurry. I'd say you have maybe a month. He's looking more and more like a toddler each day.

I'm several posts behind again. I've just been too busy. We were out-of-town celebrating Melissa's 30th birthday, had new carpet installed, painted a room, and had our ducts cleaned. On top of all that, Zach has another ear infection and I'm swamped at work. I'll get to them I promise.

Transitions

We've started the slow migration from formula to solids. Following our next grocery store trip, Zach will be moving beyond rice cereal. Gerber here we come.

Tired of crouching to feed cereal in his bouncy seat every night, Melissa put together the high chair. It is now a fixture in our kitchen.

We are well into the "How can I grab that? / How can I get it in my mouth?" phase. No signs of any teeth cutting in yet though.

Smiley is back

In case you haven't figured it out, Zach is feeling much better.
